One of the many things I appreciate about Indian River Networks is the company’s commitment and support of our local community.
Our President, Eric Smith, is actively involved with and currently serving on the board of the Brevard Family Partnership and the Melbourne Beach Rotary Club. Indian River Networks has a number of non-profit clients for which we provide network support along with supporting, volunteering, and participating in many of their fundraising events.
We are honored to support and sponsor Brevard Alzheimer’s Foundation’s annual “Cycle 4 Alzheimer’s” event and annual golf tournaments.
Their compassionate support of care givers is a constant inspiration.
We additionally take every opportunity to support our local elementary school, Gemini, fundraising events, such as the Tennis for Technology and the Sunset 5K Run.
In March, Indian River Networks sponsored a table at the Pregnancy Resources Annual Banquet 2017. At this year’s banquet they raised over $150,000. Our Business Manager, Katy Gower, learned the many ways Pregnancy Resource Center has been providing professional, compassionate care for over 30 years to pregnant women while in attendance. She was most impacted by the testimonies of the many women helped by the Center.
We also sponsored Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Florida’s 23rd Annual Brevard Cooking from the Heart fundraiser. One of our Engineer’s, Mike Keppler and his wife Reba represented IRN at this delicious event where they enjoyed gourmet international meals prepared by the most talented chefs in the county.
We are a long time advocate for Codecraft Lab, where they provide critical, 21st-century computer programming skills for all young people. I know my 10 year old son greatly appreciates the learning opportunity they have provided his school.
As many of you know, Eric and our team are most heavily involved in the Annual Pineapple Man Triathlon presented by The Rotary Club of Melbourne Beach. This is above all my personal favorite. Each year we complain with a smile about calluses on our hands from setup and tear down of the metal bike racks in the early morning and hot afternoon sun. All of us, except our Business Manager, Katy Gower, who is a notorious 3am riser, laugh off our yawns and groans over that 4:30am meet up time down at Ryckman Park. There is never a shortage of happy volunteers to make the next run for ice so we can chill in the ice truck.
We are always inspired by the participants and volunteers of all ages joining together to raise money for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Juvenile Diabetes.
At the end of the day, exhausted and a little sunburned, our team gathers together for pizza and a cold beer to reminisce about every ounce of humor and wonder from the day.
What a joy it is to be able to serve at and be a part of this event each year!
