9,314 Miles

I’m one of the “night owls” who make sure your systems run smoothly throughout the night and over the weekend. For those who aren’t aware, I’m based in the Philippines.
Late last year I had the privilege of visiting the IRN headquarters in Indialantic and taking part in IT Nation, a major technology partner convention. I was only around for a week but what a week it was!

One thing I couldn’t get around, or rather my stomach couldn’t get around, was the large portions of food. I’d struggle to finish a meal and could barely find space for dessert. I must’ve gained 5 pounds at least while I was there.

Speaking of space, it must be really cool to live a few miles away from rocket launch pads and to, every now and then, witness one of them shoot off into the sky at thousands of miles an hour. I wasn’t able to see one of these launches, unfortunately, but if given the time, I wouldn’t miss it for the world.

Getting to Florida from the Philippines took two layovers and three plane changes. Almost 40 hours of travel. Some would consider that a great hassle but to me, an aviation buff, it was kind of like a dream come true. It had been more than a decade since the last time I traveled out of my own country and I wanted to see how much has changed in terms of the onboard experience and just being in another country for even just a few hours made it all worth it.

My boss Eric and his wife Amy were such gracious hosts. I got to enjoy dinner with Eric’s parents and meet Amy’s parents as well. I got to sit in on one of the Melbourne Beach Rotary club’s meetings and search for gators on an airboat. To be given the chance to meet my US-based teammates in person; the chance to take part in IT Nation and meet and learn from the people who create the tools we use day in and day out to take care of your IT systems – All of these experiences, hold a special place in my heart.

Working for IRN is one of the best things to have ever happened in my life. It’s a company that clearly values its employees. It’s
an honor to work for a company that genuinely values its clients as well, and goes the extra mile to deliver support with a human touch.
